Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches

(Gromphadorhina portentosa)

 

How Big Do They Get? Our largest cockroach is around four inches (approximately 10 cm) long, with other members of the colony being smaller, around two to three inches (approximately 5 to 7.5 cm)

 

What Do They Eat? They are known as detritivores, animals that prefer to eat rotting plant matter.

 

Where Do They Live? Madagascar.

Here’s An Awesome Fact! Despite popular belief not all cockroaches carry diseases. Our Madagascan hissing cockroaches are perfectly safe for handling and do not pose any risk to human health.

Although somewhat intimidating with their armoured bodies and spiny legs, Madagascan hissing cockroaches are harmless.  These moderately slow moving invertebrates are an excellent introduction to cockroaches and we have helped many people overcome their fears in regards to these animals.
